Mike Matson
Associate Director, Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

Mike Matson, Associate Director, is an expert consultant focusing on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Mike is a core member of BCG’s Energy and Climate & Sustainability practices. His primary areas of expertise include project/asset development, technology, regulation, and sub-surface operations.

Since joining BCG, Mike has advised clients on large cross-sector climate and energy-related transformations. His clients have included many major corporations and energy companies, with whom he works to develop CCUS assets. In addition, he has extensive experience working with clients on upstream oil and gas, reservoir engineering, drilling engineering, energy storage, and geothermal solutions.

Mike joined BCG in 2022, after leading projects at a US-based CCUS project developer, as well as enhanced oil recovery (EOR) planning and operations with multiple independent oil companies. Mike has worked at Carbon America, Storworks Power, Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, and Kinder Morgan CO2, as well as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Houston, Downtown.
