Please join the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines as we welcome John Gutentag, Product Owner, Enverus, presenting a virtual seminar titled Quantifying the Impact of Federal Methane Regulations on the Oil and Gas Industry on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
John will discuss the potential implications for the U.S. oil & gas industry of new Environmental Protection Agency greenhouse gas-related regulations. Enverus Intelligence Research anticipates the rules will precipitate accelerated P&A timelines and a surge in orphaned wells. The new rules include the EPA’s new “Quad O” (OOOOb and OOOOc), Waste Emission Charge (methane tax) and revisions to Subpart W reporting (changing the rules on how operators report methane to the EPA).
John joined Enverus in May 2021 after working for a directional drilling service company in the Permian Basin for five years. He is currently a Product Owner on the Emissions and Regulatory team. John received a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University in 2016 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in predictive analytics from Georgia Tech. He is based in Denver.
