The Energy Communities IWG, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC), and on behalf of the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), will host a regional workshop to highlight the Qualifying Advanced Energy Project Credit (§ 48C) in Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Join them to learn how § 48C and other historic opportunities offered by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) can help catalyze clean energy projects that support economic development in energy communities and strengthen the nation’s energy supply chain.
§ 48C is an investment tax credit expanded by the IRA with $10 billion for energy projects in clean energy manufacturing and recycling, critical materials, or industrial greenhouse gas emissions reduction. At least 40% will be allocated for projects in designated energy communities.
Regional development workshops will include:
- A comprehensive overview of the 48C program to prepare potential applicants.
- A site-mapping tool demonstration.
- Discussion of the advantages of investing in energy communities.
- Panels representing a broad array of perspectives from potential project stakeholders.
- Networking opportunities.
The event is open to the public and will include project developers, asset owners, financiers, local/state/federal officials, community leaders, non-governmental organizations, and worker organizations.
