Payne Institute Faculty Fellow Jürgen Brune contributes to this article about how crews are flooding the Lila Canyon coal mine through boreholes that have been drilled into part of the mine that has burned since September 20.  After the mine is flooded, the operators may still have to wait up to 120 days before entering to make sure the fire is out.  December 13, 2022.
