Mitchell DeRubis is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting, where he leads engagements focused on U.S. power and natural gas markets, with a particular emphasis on policy analysis, strategic forecasting, and commercial due diligence. His work helps public and private sector clients evaluate the impacts of evolving regulations, assess market risks and opportunities, and make data-driven decisions under uncertainty.
Mr. DeRubis developed FTI’s current U.S. power market modeling infrastructure and oversees production cost and capacity expansion modeling used to analyze policy scenarios, infrastructure investments, and environmental compliance strategies. He brings more than a decade of experience combining advanced quantitative methods with deep market expertise.
His clients have included global energy companies, major financial institutions, federal and state agencies, national laboratories, and research institutions. In addition to his advisory work, Mr. DeRubis supports expert testimony in regulatory and litigation contexts across electric power, natural gas, and other fuels.
He holds an M.S. in Mineral & Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, an M.S. in Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining FTI, he was a senior energy analyst at S&P Global Platts.
