Please join the World Bank and the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines as we welcome Morgan Bazilian, Director, Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines, presenting a virtual seminar titled What’s Next with Green Finance and Carbon Markets? on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 6:00am – 6:30am (MT).
Governments are seeking to leverage public finance to catalyze private capital and finance the decarbonization of energy systems, as well as more resilient, low-carbon agricultural and urban systems. Private financial institutions and corporations have also been aligning their operations with net-zero goals. These efforts to transition away from fossil fuels were given a boost at COP26, in Glasgow, where there was an agreement to phase down coal power. Rules relating to carbon markets within Article 6 of the Paris Agreement were also agreed. This internal event will provide updates on recent climate finance and carbon market developments from leading experts, as well as a forum to discuss what this means for World Bank Group client engagement.
This event is part of the South Asia Region (SAR) Climate Series which aims to foster cross-sectoral discussion and collaboration on integrating climate change and development.
