Please join the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines as we welcome Dr. Tim Boersma, Non-Resident Fellow at the Columbia Center on Global Energy Policy, Director, Sustainability & Strategy Advisory, ABN AMRO, presenting The Possible Role of Natural Gas in Various Energy Transition Pathways on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 10:00am – 11:00am MT.

An introduction in the possible role of natural gas in various energy transition pathways (and the risks and uncertainties associated with it), and what role the financial sector may play to address some of those risks and uncertainties.

Dr. Tim Boersma is a non-resident Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy. In his full-time capacity he works at the Dutch bank ABN AMRO. Boersma has also been a Fellow and the Acting Director of the Energy Security and Climate Initiative at the Brookings Institution, and worked in the Dutch electricity sector.

He (co-)authored three book manuscripts, and published in Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Foreign Affairs, and other leading journals. His work has been quoted by media from around the world, including New York Times, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Guardian, Reuters, Bloomberg, Nature, Foreign Policy, and the Atlantic.

His research focuses on energy policy coordination, unconventional natural gas extraction, gas market integration, liquefied natural gas, and energy diplomacy. Boersma holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Groningen.
