Please join the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines as we welcome Chris Clack, Founder and CEO of Vibrant Clean Energy, LLC., presenting a hybrid seminar titled Economy-wide Decarbonization of the United States & Europe on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 11:00am – 12:00pm (MT).
Two of the largest emitters on the planet are the United States and Europe with combined annual economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions of approximately eleven billion metric tonnes (30% of total). With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there is growing price instability in energy across these regions. There are pathways to decarbonize Europe and the United States. Recently, the USA passed the IRA legislation, which substantially improves the economics of these pathways. In this presentation, we will study some of these pathways discussing details of important inputs and variables that contribute to specifics of the pathway course.
Chris founded VCE to create more sophisticated energy modeling platforms and to provide assistance to entities to clean up their emissions. The modeling tools created are designed to incorporate details of weather at a granularity not available anywhere else. These tools have been used by academic, industry and government to inform decision-making and clean pathway planning through 2050. Chris holds a PhD in Mathematics (Magnetohydrodynamics) and a BSc in Mathematics & Statistics.
