Please join the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines as we welcome Payne Institute Sustainable Finance Lab Program Manager Brad Handler for a virtual discussion with Deb Chattopadhyay, Senior Energy Specialist, World Bank titled Accelerated Retirement of Coal Plants on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 9:30am – 10:30am (MT).
Brad Handler and Deb Chattopadhyay will discuss the status of efforts to accelerate the retirement of coal plants in Asia and his work to delineate specific business models that can facilitate these closures. Deb will also discuss issues and opportunities specifically related to trying to retire large numbers of coal plants at once (retirement-at-scale).
Deb Chattopadhyay is a Senior Energy Specialist at the World Bank since 2014. He had previously worked for Charles River Associates and Deloitte in Australia.
Brad Handler, Payne Institute Program Manager, Sustainable Finance Lab, and Researcher, is currently researching the Oil & Gas industry’s role and vulnerability in the global transition to lower carbon energy as well as the intersection between finance and energy. Brad is a former Wall Street Equity Research Analyst with 20 years experience covering the Oilfield Services & Drilling (OFS) sector. Most recently he was a Managing Director, Equity Research at Jefferies LLC, following several years at Credit Suisse.
