For the past week forest fires have been ravaging the Benguet province in the Philippines. Fire crews have been combating the blaze since last Tuesday. The fires have been estimated to have destroyed at least a thousand hectares of pine forest. The highest temperature recorded by VIIRS Nightfire was on February 25 at 1878 deg. K (2921 deg. F). The fires have caused the closure of Mt. Pulag and surrounding areas. Pictured are the detection of fires by VIIRS over the one week period.
